One of our flagship projects, inspired by our founder’s experience of arriving to college with his clothes in trash bags, is the Puede Network’s Luggage Drive. This program has collected over 800 sets of luggage for underprivileged college-bound students from the Dallas Metroplex area. The luggage is more than bags in which students can carry their belongings; it is evidence that their community is proud of them and willing to invest in their futures. The trailblazers are mentored by our Puede Network staff, and encourage participating in the other initiatives.
Not only do our parents ZUMBA and play soccer in the weekends, they are part of a bi-weekly forum that encourages conversations about difficult topics such as race, immigration, cultural sensitivity, community engagement, poverty, dignity and respect.
• Presentation to students: A cohort of 200+ students and parents to be excited about education!
• Education: Students are taught life skills that are directly applicable to everyday life. The workshop curriculum reinforces Puede Network’s mission to prepare students to be successful in college and the workforce and to give back to their community.
TIME OF PRESENTATION: 45 minutes to an hour.
Monthly hosted community town halls with community stewards, business leaders and skillful professionals. The event is a platform for members of our privilege community to share their story, skills and advice with our youth and community.
